What do I like most about living in Guilford? Having moved here from Manhattan, where I lived for 17 years, I love that….,
1) I live only 10 minutes away from the beach
2) my kids attend schools without metal detectors at the entrances.
3) ALL the kids do learn to read in kindergarten.
3) Who needs private school? Guilford High School is ranked well within the top 15 high schools in CT
5) Spanish is taught starting 1st grade!
4) Big Y, (a.k.a. Mammouth Y) offers twenty times the selection of NYC grocers
5) clean air
6) much more space, both indoors and outdoors
7) drivers that readily let you switch lanes (culture shock!)
8) adults who quickly open doors for moms pushing stollers (more culture shock!)
9) proximity to J. Crew, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, & Gymboree outlets.
10) Even that big Walmart – great for household items & kids’ arts and crafts supplies
11) Driving my car to work, instead of riding the subway
12) the new kids playroom at the Guilford Free library
13) Lots of fun & free kids stuff on the Green: the Kazu festival in July, the Halloween parade, the Easter Egg Hunt, the July 4th picnic with 3 huge moonbounces
14) Most of all, the Guilford Newcomers Club! (sorry, I had to)

2. Few, if any, drivers have road rage
3. The Town Green is THE most beautiful in all of CT.
4. You can meet really interesting & well-educated people here.
5. First Congregational Church typifies what New England inclusion is all about.
6. Bishops is here
7. Big money is “Quiet”
8. Has great Organizations/Networking Groups
9. I live a mile from the water
10. You can live as busy or as relaxed a life as you choose.
